Frequently Asked Questions

How many sessions of bodywork does my horse need?

Treatment Plan: All horses who are asked to do a job ( breeding, riding, competing, driving) should have bodywork at least once every three weeks. Competitive horses can benefit from sessions every 1 - 4 times per month depending on the amount of stress put on them. I will always need to wait at least three days in between sessions. Every horse's situation is different and considered for the horse's well being and proactive-preventative maintenance measures.

Are you going to take my picture or a video?

I sometimes will socially post educational photos and/or video content and/or submit case studies (for a grade in certifications) with some of my client's unique situations- at no time will personal client information be shared just educational content. I will always ask permission and ask you in a disclose form filled out in the initial session.

What to expect after a bodywork session?

Most horses will be relaxed & sleepy immediately after a bodywork session. If a horse is in a lot of pain, the horse may by guarded / annoyed following the initial session.  As I continue to work on your horse, they will begin to enjoy the session and will be open to the benefits of the particular massage/techniques right for them. So, it all depends on the type of massage and what their previous experience has been with massage.  Also, I recommend adding electrolytes or salt to your horses water for a couple of days after their individualized bodywork session.

Please note: After a bodywork session, I highly recommend that the equine does not carry weight on their back for 24 hours post session. Lunging/Ground work, exercise is okay (encourages correct movement patterns right away). After 24 hours, the equine may go back to ½ work at ½ intensity (no cantering or jumping). After 48 hours the equine may resume normal work. Movement provided during turnout will help maximize the session’s benefits.
