About Me

My name is Erica and I am the face behind Footprint to Hoofprint Equine Bodywork where my services offer a multimodal comprehensive approach to the musculoskeletal system, recognizing that the hooves, limbs and body are interconnected and integral to the horse’s overall biomechanics

What I Do

Footprint to Hoofprint Equine Bodywork provides whole(istic) balance to every horse by recognizing whole horse wellness. We utilize Equine Myo-Manipulative Functional Therapy (functional massage), and/or other bodywork modalities, and functional barefoot trimming to benefit the horse in a proactive forward-looking wellness plan. I am happy to work with expert veterinarians, nutritionists, saddle fitters, trainers, and others to facilitate the circle of wellbeing for all horses, any discipline, and any age.

Erica Jones, Our Practitioner
Bachelors in Psychology
Animal Reiki Master and Equine Myo-Manipulative Functional Therapy
Certified Here

A Florida native and lifelong horse lover, In 2013, while working through her AA and on her thesis for her bachelors of psychology at Saint Leo University(2017), Erica interviewed and volunteered part time, with therapists who specialized in equine facilitated therapy. Exploring the connection between humans and horses during her studies piqued her interest even more in horses. After graduating she immediately threw herself into the horse world full time, continuing riding lessons and weekly volunteering several times a week until she finally became the guardian of her first horse, Logan, in 2018. Before long she knew she had to build her own unique equine sanctuary (Iron Horse Haven) and purchased property in the Spring Hill area so she could care for her horses full time. Taking a keen interest in the health and wellbeing of her own horses, she began researching more in depth about equine: psychology, physiology, behavior, biomechanics, anatomy, zoology, nutrition, and natural hoof care in her own time to ensure they got optimal whole horse care. Before long she found herself training in Equine Reiki, Equine Bodywork, and natural hoof trimming (PHCP Clinic {2022}, Florida Association of Trimmers{2023}, and David Landreville Clinics {2023}) to care for her own horses. Recognizing the struggles many horses and their owners go through, she decided she could further her studies, getting certified as a Myo-Manipulative Functional Therapist (equine functional massage) & Animal Reiki Master, and more certifications to come, so that she could offer her assistance to other horses and horse owners in need.

Reiki: Physical, Mental & Emotional Wellness

Reiki is a form of energy work used to restore the regular flow of universal life energy through a beings body ( chakras & meridians). Positive universal life energy is passed through one being to another through the intention of love. Through reiki's modality, we can remove the energetic charge on a cellular level that physical, mental, or emotional trauma may have caused, letting the body know it's not at danger anymore. That is, when a horse experiences trauma, the role of the brain is to store that memory and what ever senses experienced during that time of trauma. Essentially, reiki can balance the nervous system (parasympathetic [rest & digest]) and (sympathetic

[fight or flight responses]). This type of reset allows the horse to gain mental (ability to think clearly and make good discissions) and emotional (ability to cope with & manage emotions) wellness.
